I spent a good portion of yesterday doing things most people don’t normally do on Memorial Day. I didn’t barbecue, I didn’t salute a flag, and the best thing I ate was probably a plain tortilla out of a bag. Instead of conforming to the American Way, I decided to start doing my own comic strip. It’s very simple to do and feeds a creative need to tell a story and get it out there for everyone to see. I’ll probably do a few every week since they’re real simple to do and I enjoy them. Ignore the extra space since I’m cropping these in Paint so you don’t have to click a thousand links. The serious is called Held Back, based partially on something else I wrote but not really.
Held Back: Homecoming Date Part 1 & Part 2
Held Back: No Running in the Hall
Held Back: The Faculty Bathroom
Held Back: Trip to the Art Museum
Held Back: Guess Who I Am
Held Back: The Joy of Babysitting
Held Back: Holiday Plans
Held Back: The Old Cynic
Held Back: My First Time
As already stated, I’ll post anything new I create up on here every so often. For access to the website or to be current and see them before anyone else you can visit my profile and have at it.
Look forward to reading them later, but, one question…how is it simple and to do a few a week? Doesn’t it take ages to draw them?
I have really fast hands.
Look at the bottom for the link to the site I used. Everything’s pre-drawn. It’s less about the artwork and taking the images provided and telling a story with them. You should give it a try. It’s fun.
Aaah, I thought it may be. I was thinking of something as Buzzfeed listed the best internet comics yesterday, and thought there must be a comic creator somewhere. That’s as far as I got as I never had any ideas after that
I actually find it easy to come up with ideas once you see the different scenes available and props. I guess it’s like Who’s Line Is It Anyway when they give them the weird props.
Awesome… you really are getting weirder… and more creative and artsy… this is going to make you gay, but you will hate yourself for it.
Artsy people are gay? Tell me more Mr. Artist. It’s even in your name, Art.
Ssssshhhh… don’t tell my wife… or kids…
Series, not serious–this strip doesn’t have a serious line in it. See how I tried to make a joke?
Okay, it made me grin all the way through, and that’s a good thing, right?
It’s a beautiful thing. You know, like how Italian people always say that pizza is a beautiful thing.
That is some freaky squatting the comic creator has them do for sitting.
I can barely touch my toes some days. I wish I had the flexibility of a cartoon.
Lmao. So you can avoid the rats in your bathroom?
You are one seriously disturbed dude. So, when is your next batch of comics coming out?
Thanks. And I’ll probably do something weekly. You should give it a try too.
I laughed the most at Guess Who I Am and the babysitting ones. Ha. Not sure if that info’s helpful, but thought I’d share.
No it’s helpful. I’ll cry about the fact that you didn’t laugh at them all equally though because I’m a Communist.
I’m almost speechless, but I’m laughing. Guy on the toilet with his pants on – hahaha!
Glad you enjoy!
Pretty funny Timmo, you’re certainly a man of many trades 😀 I may have a go at this myself and see how offensive a comic I can create!
Make sure you make copies. They seem pretty serious about not doing anything too offensive. Or you can purposefully see how offensive you can make them and then get banned. Hey, both are badass.
Mwahahaha–these are funny!!! I think you’d make a great comic comic writer. Why not try drawing your own characters though? Heh–that would definitely make the whole process longer. But yeah I agree, you should make this feature a regular. Great stuff!
Thanks and I am a TERRIBLE artist. Most importantly, it would take a long time. I would have liked to have been able to design the original characters as this site is a bit limited. Then again, sometimes seeing what they offer helps give ideas.
